The Riviera dei Ponente, where Agriturismo Cà de Runde is located, has a rich history, deep traditions and a beautiful legacy of impressive architecture, arts, castles, churches and museum. Whether you are interested in prehistory, art, cuisine or nature, in our region there is enough to explore for everyone. We will give you just a grasp of ideas of how to spend a cultural day.

Sanremo:

  • Villa Nobel, villa and gardens, named after Alfred Nobel. The famous Swedish scientist and inventor of the dynamite spent the last years of his life here and has definitely left his marks at this eccentric site. The beautiful villa is now a museum with personal items related to the works of Alfred Nobel.
  • Casino Municipal Sanremo: the most significant building of the Belle Epoque in Sanremo. Over the years its charm has remained unchanged. The Roof Garden restaurant is known as an elegant dining venue and there are several bars in the gaming rooms.
  • Museo Civico: the Civic museum in the historic Palazzo Nota exhibits prehistoric and Roman finds from the area, paintings and a multimedia presentation about the city’s history and art.
  • Chiesa Russa Ortodossa: the Russian Orthodox Church was built in the early 1900’s when Sanremo became popular with Russians as a winter destination. The church is similar to the church of San Basilio in Moscow. 
Villa Nobel San Remo

Bussana Vecchia:

  • This former ghost town was abandoned after the earthquake of 1887. It was renovated and repopulated by an international community of artists in the early 1960s. The International Artists Village is still very much alive, with artists selling their handmade artworks and organizing artistic events. 

Valloria:

  • The village of the painted doors: medieval village with around 40 inhabitants and 144 colourful doors.

Coldorodi:

  • Museo di Villa Luca Pinacoteca Rambaldi: art museum and gardens, founded in 1865 with paintings from the 15th to the 19th century, displayed in frescoed rooms with beautiful views over the bay of Ospedaletti

Ventimiglia:

  • Museo Preistorico dei Balzi Rossi: this prehistoric museum and archaeological site is one the major prehistoric finds in Europe. The site consists of caves and rock shelters, where through the millennia many animal remains, stone tools, sculptures and wood carvings were found, left by prehistoric men.

Imperia:

  • Museo dell'Olivo: museum about the history the local of olive cultivation and olive oil production methods
  • Villa Grock, Museo del Clown: beautiful gardens and an Art Nouveau styled villa and museum; all with a quirky twist. The Villa, where Charles Adrien Wettach spend his last years, still honours the life of the extraordinary artist, juggler, musician, acrobat and clown Grock.

Triora:

  • Museo di Triora Etnografico e della Stregoneria: witchcraft museum, contains artefacts from the trials, as well as reconstructions of the tortures and interrogations.
